Alan Watts on Nothingness

Kelso-Cima Road
As I've written in the past, Alan Watts is a great resource; his interpretation of Zen is appealing and his presentation especially entertaining for a Western audience.  Watts had a particular skill for relating Zen concepts back to practical daily life.  Much of what we are taught culturally is what Zen aims to question in the first place.  Why do we value money?  Why do we value certain outcomes over others?  Why are some people defined as successful, others as failures?  Do these contrasts even really exist?  Zen argues against them, as is explained here by Alan Watts.  Keep those questions in mind as you listen.  While it may seem bleak at first, Watts reveals that the very idea of nothingness can actually liberate us from our egos and false notions.
