10 Enlightening Quotes from Gandhi

Everyone could use a little more Gandhi wisdom in their lives.  Even if you find yourself drenched in cynicism and negativity, reading this man's words can lift you out of your funk. Gandhi embodied much of what I, and I assume many of you readers, aspire to:  simplicity, compassion and action.
It's important here to make the distinction that we don't need to aspire to be world peacemakers or political figures.  Gandhi started small and his actions reverberated across the world.  Most important, he followed his principles.  He said a lot, but did far more.  He's a reminder of the power of benevolent action and hard work.
Go to just about any quotes site and you're likely to find Gandhi's name on the front page.  His words have been immortalized over and over, shared by many.  But there's a difference between repeating and doing.  Let's try to do something today to reflect Gandhi's values.  Let's make it a goal to really simplify our lives and really be nicer to other people, not just talk or think about it.  On that note:

“Happiness is when what you think, what you say, and what you do are in harmony.”

“When I despair, I remember that all through history the way of truth and love have always won. There have been tyrants and murderers, and for a time, they can seem invincible, but in the end, they always fall. Think of it--always.”
“A man is but the product of his thoughts. What he thinks, he becomes.”

"Earth provides enough to satisfy every man's need, but not every man's greed."

“You must not lose faith in humanity. Humanity is like an ocean; if a few drops of the ocean are dirty, the ocean does not become dirty.”

"Power is of two kinds. One is obtained by the fear of punishment and the other by acts of love. Power based on love is a thousand times more effective and permanent then the one derived from fear of punishment."

"We must become the change we want to see in the world."
